Social Commitment
The accommodation facility is involved in the Solidarity campaign of the Accor group and it provides free stays for Ukrainian refugees and their own premises to host community events
The hotel is one of the signatories of the project “Living Lab of Aci”, an intervention plan funded by the homonymous GAL for innovation and enhancement of the local cultural heritage through the development of augmented reality applications.
The facility is member of the local Pro Loco and of the main trade associations with which it shares its best practices.
The hotel has been accredited by the municipality of Acireale for the activation of training internships aimed at social inclusion, personal autonomy and rehabilitation for the purpose of job placement of disadvantaged people.
Coping with global warming takes a lot of effort. To contribute in our small way, in 2023 we chose to offer our customers Lavazza ¡Tierra coffee! for Planet, a premium selection of organic Arabica from pristine lands, where coffee producers are being taught to use agricultural techniques that can counteract the effects of climate change.
Among the many initiatives, the structure protects and enhances the environmental heritage through economic support to the Italian Association of Organic Agriculture (AIAB) and the FAI – Italian Environment Fund.
Ibis Styles Catania Acireale is proud to be a signatory to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism. As signatories to the Glasgow Declaration, we are committed to delivering plans in line with the pathways to halving tourism emissions in the next decade and achieving zero net emissions as soon as possible before 2050.
In 2022 ibis Styles Catania Acireale has chosen to offer a contribution to a local reality, the community “Madonna della Tenda S. Giovanni Bosco” in Acireale, by donating 7 cupboard kitchens, to be used in the community’s prefabricated houses, as support for the families hosted.
Ibis Styles Catania Acireale has joined the Accor Heartist Solidarity fundraising campaign as an act of solidarity with the people of Turkey and Syria, hit by the devastating earthquake of February 2023. Donations will go to UNHCR, the initiative’s partnership, and help implement vital relief actions related to basic necessities, assistance, medical care and participation in future reconstruction efforts.
Still on the subject of sustainability, 2023 marks another choice by the hotel to adhere to AltroMercato’s proposals by offering guests fair trade cane sugar. The goal is to contribute to the fight against the exploitation of workers in the sector as well as the exaggerated use of extensive monocultures which negatively impact the environment in sugar-producing areas, fueling climate change, deforestation and the loss of biodiversity.
